Families and community

We welcome families and community groups throughout the year to take part in creative activities inspired by the British Library's collections and exhibitions

We welcome families and community groups throughout the year to take part in creative activities inspired by our collections and exhibitions.

Our activities support families and community groups to explore and create together in a fun and relaxed way. Everyone’s welcome and, best of all, we won’t ever ask you to keep the noise down!

From 22 July, we are opening some of our Reading Rooms as the first step of a phased reopening. However, our onsite family programme will remain closed until further notice.

But the fun hasn’t stopped – we’ve plenty of activities that you can enjoy from home. Start by exploring the links below, from storytelling videos to craft and play ideas. You can also keep in touch with us on Twitter.

We will be updating this page when we have more information about the relaunching of our onsite programme. We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as it’s safe to do so.
