Inspirational visits to engage learners with the British Library's unique collections
Our programme of curriculum-linked workshops for Primary, Secondary and FE learners encourages curiosity, creativity and exploration. Led by a team of specialist educators and using the Harry M Weinrebe Learning Centre and our exhibitions, sessions develop critical thinking, research skills and visual, verbal and information literacy. Self-guided visits are also available to book, offering an opportunity for independent exploration of our galleries and public spaces.
Our CPD events support teachers to develop subject knowledge, reinvigorate classroom practice and rediscover a passion for their subject. Our conferences and twilight sessions feature well-respected authors, academics and educational practitioners, whilst INSET sessions enable staff teams to experience a workshop session and use it for a springboard to develop their teaching.
Our website is brimming with ideas and inspiration for the classroom, from Gothic literature to medieval history and from World War One to feminism.
Thank you for providing such an excellent service and delivering a fabulous workshop. Our students will remember this visit for many years (Secondary Teacher)
Our thanks for an amazing, informative and enjoyable experience which prompted independent writing of a high standard back at school (Primary Teacher)
Due to a high number of bookings, we have very limited availability for workshops in November and December 2018 with the exception of Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms: Art, Word, War Primary and Secondary groups.
