Six examples of UK documentary archives have been added to the prestigious UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) UK Memory of the World Register.
We’re delighted that the library of manuscripts assembled by Robert Cotton (1571-1631) which are held here at the British Library have been awarded this celebrated status. The collection includes items of national and international significance and many of the most famous historical and literary treasures of the United Kingdom (including Magna Carta, the Lindisfarne Gospels, and Beowulf).
