In 2017, we joined WeChat and Weibo, the two largest social networking platforms in China, to support the British Library in China: connecting through learning and culture project and to engage with Chinese-speaking audiences. On our channels, you’ll find rich, exciting content introducing our diverse collections and the social, political and cultural context that surrounds them. They are also great places to keep up with our events and activities in the UK and China.
We often run interactive challenges on WeChat and Weibo, from creative art call-outs to translation competitions. Past examples include asking our audience to create works of art in response to collection items and content on our Chinese website (www.britishlibrary.cn). This challenge saw over 100 submissions ranging from illustrations, paintings and sculptures, to animations and short videos.
