Key times and dates:
All Document Supply services will be closed on the following dates
Christmas: 17.00 on 23 December – 08.00 on 30 December (UK time)
New Year: 17.00 on 31 December – 08.00 on 02 January (UK time)
Reading Rooms
The British Library’s Reading room in Boston Spa, Yorkshire, will be closed from Tuesday 24 December to Sunday 29 December, reopening as normal at 9am on Monday 30 December. It will also be closed on Wednesday 01 January, reopening as normal at 9am on Thursday 2 January.
The Reading room will close at 16.30, as normal, on Monday 23 December, Monday 30 December and Tuesday 31 December.
To guarantee delivery of items from our London collection to the Boston spa site for the 30 December, orders need to be placed by 20 December at the latest. London stock items required for the 31 December need to be ordered by the 23 December.
On Demand order processing
Any document supply orders received after 15.00 GMT on Monday 23 December will not be processed and delivery speeds will not be timed until we reopen on Monday 30 December at 08:00 GMT. Similarly, if we receive your order after 15:00 GMT on Tuesday 31 December, we will not start processing and timing orders until we reopen on Thursday 2 January at 08:00 GMT. This includes orders with 2-hour and 24-hour delivery speeds.
You will still be able to order items from our electronic stores for immediate download.
Customer Services
Customer Services will be open from 08.30 to 17:30 on Monday 23 December and Monday 30 December.
Customer Services will close at 17.00 on Tuesday 31 December and reopen at 8.30 on Thursday 2 January 2020.
