Middlemarch on tour to celebrate George Eliot’s bicentenary

To coincide with the bicentenary of George Eliot’s birth in Warwickshire on 22 November 1819 you can see the British Library’s copy of her Middlemarch manuscript at The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry until 5 January and then in Nuneaton Museum from January – March 2020.

Middlemarch was released in eight ‘half volumes’ over 12 months. You can see one of the four sets of bound loose leaves in a new George Eliot display in our Treasures Gallery at St Pancras until 26 January.
