£1m for our new home in Leeds

Our plans to make a new home for the Library in the heart of Leeds have taken another step forward.

Published date:

The Wolfson Foundation have awarded us £1 million toward our vision for an open, welcoming hub in the city, where people and ideas flow freely.

In its latest round of awards, the Wolfson Foundation has awarded over £19 million in grants to capital projects – buildings, refurbishments and equipment – across arts, science, health and education. We’re proud to have been allocated funds alongside hospices and historic buildings, laboratories and supported living accommodation, classrooms and a cathedral.

We will use our portion of the funding to open up opportunities in a city that champions innovation. For local people to develop their skills and interests, for children and grown-ups alike to ignite their imaginations, for researchers to advance their work, and for business ideas to evolve. Creating a modern library that not only makes space for discovery but for collaboration. A library that's yours to explore, however you like.

In the meantime, we will continue our work with local people and partners in Leeds, growing our programme of events and learning activities in the region.
