Plan of Fort George on the Caribbean island of Barbados. The island was first settled by the British in 1627 and during the 17th and 18th centuries its economy was dependant on the production of sugar, molasses and rum. The fort was located on Mount Charity ? also known as Mount Charlie- with its steep sides it has the appearance of a mountain but is actually only 23 meters high.
