This small Italian etching is one of the earliest surviving maps of the city of London. It appeared in a book by Francesco Velagio entitled 'Raccolta di le piu` illustri et famose citta di tutto il mondo'. Published in Venice around 1595, the book depicts the main Italian and European cities. The map was copied for a fresco in a church in the Italian city of Mantua.
