The cross-carpet page introducing the Gospel of St Luke makes only sparing use of animal ornament but the page bearing the opening words of the Gospel: 'Quoniam quidem multi conati sunt ordinare narrationem', Forasmuch as many have taken it in hand to set forth in order, is one of the most varied in the manuscript.
