Twenty-fifth Sunday after Pentecost, Pages 368-9

These pages come from the 'Ordinary of the Mass', the central canon of the mass which is recited every time the Eucharist is celebrated. It contains prefaces with musical notation for the chants used by the celebrant. This section also contains realistically depicted English birds and a series of roundels in the lower margins describing important events in the development of Christianity in England and abroad.

Birdsong: the song of the skylark, which can be seen in the upper right-hand margin of page 20, can be heard here.

This version of Turning the Pages does not require the Shockwave plug-in. It foregoes the interactive animation that lets you 'virtually' turn pages and brings you the same high-quality images of our greatest books in standard web pages.

You can listen to the audio files on these pages with Windows Media Player
