Amy works on our
Get Ready for Business Growth scale-up programme as part of the
BIPC team and delivers the market research component.
What are your areas of expertise?
“As a market researcher, I’m interested in all aspects of business, especially the general economic and social conditions in a marketplace that need to be factored in to strategic planning. In the Get Ready for Business Growth programme, we support creative businesses. I especially love the creative industries because it means I have to be creative with my research as well.”
What’s the one BIPC resource you love to recommend to people?
“Both
Mintel (consumer information) and
IBIS World (industry information) databases are available for readers in the BIPC Reading Room for free and they are both incredibly valuable to anyone running a business, whether a start-up, scale-up, or mature.”
Your best piece of business advice?
“’Hope is not a strategy.’ If you need to make a strategic decision about your business or if something’s not going right, don’t hope things will work out. Do research and arm yourself with facts.”
Favourite fact about the British Library?
“The British Library has a Sound Archive with over six million recordings and items of recording equipment. You can listen to music, interviews, animal sounds, and interviews all for free.”
