Colin graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc in Computing Science (2004), Earth Science (2014), and an MSc in Tourism, Heritage & Sustainability (2015). He has a strong interest in citizen science and his mixed academic background has allowed him to work on a number of projects including designing an application for recording fossils (the Caithness Fishes), seaweed logging and climate data modelling. 

Colin spent 2017 with The National Archives specialising in Digital Preservation and Digitisation under the ‘Transforming Archives’ programme. He was seconded to Norfolk Record office, working on developing and testing the open-source digital preservation system ‘Archivematica’ with the East of England Regional Archive Council, as well as digitising archival content from the collection and Norfolk Sound Archive.
