British Library Open Access
Scholarly Communications Lead
Open access, scholarly publishing, metrics

Dimity Flanagan is leading on the development and implementation of the British Library’s scholarly communications strategy. A key focus of this work is to understand the impact of the growing volume of open access scholarly content on Library services and how the Library can ensure that it continues to fulfill its mission of supporting research and preserving the UK’s scholarly output.

Dimity is working to ensure the wider accessibility of BL research through the establishment of the British Library open access policy for staff research outputs. She is the main point of contact for BL staff for open access publishing queries.

Dimity joined the British Library from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she was the institutional repository manager and academic support librarian for Economics. Previously she was an information services librarian at the University of New South Wales, which involved supporting both staff and students through research support, information literacy and collection development.
