Ilkay Holt
Ilkay Holt leads on the development and implementation of the scholarly communications strategy at the British Library. This includes monitoring various developments in the areas of open research and scholarly communications more broadly and their impact on services provided by the British Library, as well as engaging with conversations in the scholarly communications community. She is the key point of contact for open research publishing queries from British Library staff.
Ilkay joined the British Library after having worked with open access repositories at Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and on research support, capacity building at the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Previously, she worked as a university librarian in Turkey, served in the national library consortium (ANKOS) and has experience in open access, scholarly publishing, and library service development. She holds an MBA and MA in Library Science.
Ilkay actively engages in the global communities in the areas of open culture and open infrastructure such as Creative Commons (CC) Global Network – founding member of CC Turkey, Open Repositories Steering Committee member (2021-2024).
