Olivia is a Research Software Engineer specialising in data visualisation design working on Living with Machines. Living with Machines is a collaborative research project involving the British Library, the Alan Turing Institute, and researchers from a range of UK universities. The project combines digital archives with data science techniques to provide new insights into the human impact of the industrial revolution.

Prior to joining Living with Machines, Olivia was working towards a PhD in Innovation Design Engineering at Royal College of Art, London. This PhD work explored how interactive data visualisation can be used to make sense of digitised museum, library and archive collections. She worked with a number of cultural institutions including the Wellcome Library, V&A Museum, and Swedish National Heritage Board and completed a Smithsonian Fellowship at the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, New York City (2017).
