What can people expect from your workshops?

“I believe in growing in a way that's sustainable for you, me and the world. Creativity and an eye for numbers might seem an unlikely combination but your company needs both to deliver results.

A lot of my work is about supporting people who have traditionally been excluded from the funding world to scale their businesses and I have raised millions for the businesses I work with through debt, equity, grants and tax reliefs.

There are three key pillars to my work:

1. Finance 101 - how to use the latest FinTech to run your financial admin for you and give you back more time
2. Managing cash - whether you are just starting out or a large entity this is key to staying in business and being able to invest in your own growth, as well as sleeping soundly at night
3. Finance for Growth - this is my favourite area where we cover all the tools you need to grow. For example, this could be super simple analysis to spot opportunities for growth, exploring funding options and raising investment, pricing or putting together a solid financial plan.”

What’s the one BIPC resource you love to recommend to people?

“I love the various workshops that the BIPC runs - and now so many are remote it's easier for everyone across the country to access them. When I started my own business marketing and publicity was not my strongpoint and the workshops at my local BIPC really supported me and increased my confidence.”

Your best piece of business advice?

“My best piece of business advice is from the late, great Harvard Professor Clayton Cristensen: 93% of all companies that ultimately become successful had to abandon their original strategy.

He says that having a plan for how to grow is important, but even more so is knowing when to pivot, particularly in a world where technology and society are changing so quickly.”
