Valene spent most of her university years in Scotland specialising in Heritage and Librarianship; she participated in a number of sound archives and Digital Preservation projects for the National Library of Scotland. She is currently studying for a Masters in Digital Curation with Aberystwyth University by distance-learning.

Her enthusiasm for 1990s games and emulation has led her to join the Digital Preservation team in Boston Spa where she is looking forward to discovering further collections of software owned by the British Library.
