The British Library’s open access Research Repository makes it easy to discover the amazing range of research undertaken by our staff. From published articles about our intricate ancient manuscripts to complex datasets resulting from digitisation programmes, our research takes many forms. The repository supports the British Library's Open Access Policy for staff research, in recognition of the value that the outputs of our research have for future researchers, and so aims to make them discoverable and accessible for everybody.

The Shared Repository Service provides a shared platform with other UK museums, galleries and heritage organisations, allowing partner organisations to establish and manage an open access repository on a platform shared with the British Library. A single search across the combined content reveals collaborative research projects and interesting parallels between our separate specialist research fields. As well as the platform, partners in the service can take advantage of the British Library’s expertise in metadata, publications, discovery and data management.
