Music and place: sacred music and folksong

Lesson rationale

This teaching resource enables A Level students to see original manuscripts tracing the ways in which English composers of the early 20th century collected folksongs and used them as the basis of hymns and other compositions. A variety of activities encompassing reading, listening, analysis and composition will support the core curriculum, and may be used as a starting point for extension activities and further reading and listening.
