Binding: In a 19th-century English blind and gold tooled dark red goatskin binding. Author and title are lettered in gold up the flat spine. The edges of the boards are gold tooled, the turn-ins are blind and gold tooled. The edges of the leaves are gilt. With plain blue paper endleaves tooled in blind. A cutting from a bookseller's catalogue is pasted on the verso of the front flyleaf. Binder's ticket on the verso of the front flyleaf 'Bound by RILEY 54 Brunswick Street, Black Friars Road'.
