Five false raised bands divide the spine into six gold tooled compartments.
The title is lettered in gold across the second spine compartment,
the author and the date of publication are lettered in gold across
the third spine compartment. The edges of the boards and the turn-ins
are gold tooled. The edges of the leaves are gilt. With comb marbled
paper endleaves. With the book-plate 'EX MVSÆO HVTHII.' and
the stamp 'HUTH BEQUEST' on the pastedown of the upper cover and
the stamp 'HUTH BEQUEST' on the pastedown of the lower cover. A
newspaper cutting dated in MS. 'The Critic. N. York. 13 July 91.'
is pasted on the first front flyleaf. MS. notes by George Daniel,
dated 1847, on recto and verso of the second front flyleaf. MS.
notes '25, By W. Shakespear, df' in unidentified hands on the titlepage.
Signed at the top on the front flyleaf 'BOUND BY C. LEWIS'.
