Susan Onslow (1943) chemist, spent much of her career in the water industry working in waste management. She joined the South West Gas Board as a trainee chemist after completing her A-levels, working as an analyst and completing her Higher National Certificate before moving to the laboratory of the Bath Corporation Sewage Treatment Works as a junior chemist. Here shestudied for the examinations of the Chartered Institute of Water Engineering and Management. Following the establishment of the regional water authorities in 1974 she was promoted to area chemist and later area controller for Wessex Water Authority. After privatisation in 1989 she remained in this role. Following retirement from Wessex Water she worked as a consultant for Special Assessment Services, providing advice and training to the water industry.
