Maggie Read – Maggie Read Jewellery

Maggie Read creates eco-conscious handcrafted jewellery in rural Northumberland. Despite the studio’s rural location, Maggie was easily able to access in-person business support in her local library, booking an appointment with the Business & IP Centre North East’s Library & Information Officer.

The Library & Information Officer helped Maggie to explore the GrantFinder database for free and search for funding opportunities specifically relevant to her business. After working with the Business & IP Centre to find potential funding, Maggie successfully applied for and received a grant for £5000 to expand and develop her business. Maggie has used this grant to expand her offer beyond creating jewellery herself, now running regular workshops and classes to teach others how to make jewellery themselves, reaching new customers across Northumberland and the Scottish borders.
