Helen Hamlyn Trust: Young Sparks
A free programme for 14 – 17 year olds, supporting them to be creative, spark imaginations and forge connections with our collection. Our first workshops take place this August exploring animation and storytelling.

If you’re looking to get creative over the holidays, join us for our free Young Sparks summer school, Animated Archives; a fun five-day workshop where you’ll get to create your own short films inspired by our collection. Led by expert filmmakers Chocolate Films you’ll learn how to create fun stop-motion animations and even make your own sets.
So if you love telling stories, this project is for you. You’ll create your own adaptation of a story from our collection, retold through a 21st-century perspective.
Perhaps a 2,000 year old homework book from ancient Greece, the letters of Jane Austen, or poet William Blake’s printing press will inspire you… What would their stories look like today, told through your eyes?
Applications are now closed.

You’ll need to be available from 19 – 23 August and be able to travel in for the sessions at the British Library in St Pancras.
