Jeremy Silver

Jeremy Silver is an entrepreneur, author and non-executive advisor. In November 2025, he was appointed Interim CEO at The British Library. He was a Trustee of the Library from 2019–2025 and Chair of its Digital Portfolio Committee.

He is Non-Executive Director at AQL, a telecoms company and at ACM, a creative industries university. He is also on the Board of Trustees at Studio Wayne McGreagor.

He is an Honorary Professor in the Computer Science Department of UCL, where he is Chair of the Creative Intelligence Centre.

Previously, he was CEO of Digital Catapult from 2016–2024; Executive Chairman of Semetric (acquired by Apple), Strategic Advisor to the founders of Shazam. He was CEO of Sibelius Software (acquired by Avid), VP New Media at EMI Group in Los Angeles and Director of Media at Virgin Records.

He studied for his PhD in English Literature at Bedford College, London and was a Research Officer at the British Library Sound Archive between 1984 and 1987.

Jeremy has written a number of books, the most recent being Towards a Digital Renaissance, exploring the relationship between investors, founders, technology and creativity. He has addressed TEDx, Houses of Parliament, the CBI, SXSW and Midem as well as many trade events and conferences.
