Kate Mosse CBE FRSL

An award-winning No 1 bestselling novelist, non-fiction author, playwright, performer and activist. She is the author of 12 novels and short story collections, four plays and five works of non-fiction including her memoir about being a carer An Extra Pair of Hands, Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries and Feminist History for Every Day of the Year for Young Adult readers. The Founder director of the Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, she chairs the WPT's national mentoring and new writing programme ‘Discoveries’ and is the Founder of the global #WomaninHistory campaign.

Kate read English at New College Oxford and holds an Honorary MA from the University of Chichester, where she is a Visiting Professor of Creative Writing and Contemporary Fiction.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Honorary Fellow of the Society of Authors, she is President of the Festival of Chichester, Patron of the Consort of Twelve, Patron of the Chichester Festival of Music, Dance and Speech, and Patron of the Madge Turner Statue Campaign. An activist in the areas of women’s rights, AI and care, she supports a Bursary for Carers at the Open University and is an Ambassador for Parkinsons UK.

Appointed to the Board on 1 March 2024, and is a member of the Audit Committee.
