Amelia Peckham – Cool Crutches

Business & IP Centre 20th Anniversary Ambassador

Amelia Peckham.

Amelia Peckham is the Founder and CEO of Cool Crutches, an award-winning UK brand redefining the mobility aid industry through exceptional design and medical grade innovation. After a life changing accident left her reliant on standard hospital issued crutches, Amelia experienced first hand the blisters, joint pain and long term health risks that can result from prolonged use of conventional walking aids. Refusing to accept that compromise was inevitable, she led the redesign of an entire product category, developing exceptional ergonomic, medically certified walking aids that prioritise joint protection, stability, comfort and long term health without sacrificing aesthetics, style or confidence.

Today, Cool Crutches has supported over 50,000 people worldwide and built a thriving community of more than 200,000, with celebrity fans including Victoria Beckham, Piers Morgan and England cricketer Jonny Bairstow. Amelia is a passionate advocate for inclusive entrepreneurship and is proving that medical grade performance and outstanding product design are not mutually exclusive. She is setting a new global standard for mobility aids.

Amelia has used the Business & IP Centre in a variety of ways, using the libraries in Boston Spa and St Pancras for research and taking part in our Get Ready for Business Growth Accelerator programme. The Get Ready for Business Growth programme was transformative for Cool Crutches, identifying future risks for the business and creating a concrete strategy for growth. Amelia describes the British Library as ‘a pivotal cog in our journey, often supporting us without even knowing it. They’ve been by my side as a founder to bounce ideas off but also a genuinely brilliant resource to turn ideas into action’.
