Before you can order from On Demand you need to open an account with us
Before using British Library On Demand, please refer to the services terms and conditions.
Personal accounts
Individual customers can register for a personal, pay-as-you-go account online. First you need to register for a British Library online account and then add British Library On Demand to your services. You’ll then be able to order items and pay with your credit or debit card online at ondemand.bl.uk. We are unable to accept onetime virtual disposable credit card payments.
If you are a member of an organisation that has a business account with us you may be able to access items for a lower price or even free by ordering through them. Contact your library or information centre to find out how to do this.
Business accounts
If you order more than 100 items per year through On Demand you may want to register for a business account with us. Business account customers receive benefits including:
- Monthly itemised statements
- Eligibility to loan items from the British Library
- Automated ordering through your library management system or our API
- A dedicated account manager to help you make the most of our services
To register for a business account you first need to register for a personal account. Once you have received confirmation of your personal account registration, download a business account registration pack and fill in the business account registration form and credit application form. You should return both of these forms to customer-services-accounts@bl.uk or to the address below:
