Decoration 3 large historiated initials, developing partial foliate borders, in colours and gold (ff. 15, 88, 108). 1 large initial in gold on a blue and red ground (f. 15). 1 large initial in blue with reserved designs, and pen-flourishing in red (f. 157). Spaces for illuminated initials left empty in the last part (f. 182, 191v).
Dimensions in mm 290 x 200 (210 x 140) in two columns
Official foliation ff. 201 (+ 5 medieval paper leaves with medieval foliation after f. 107; + 1 modern paper and 1 medieval parchment flyleaves at the beginning, and 4 medieval and 1 modern paper flyleaves at the end)

Binding BM/BL in-house. Edges yellow; rebound in 1962.
Provenance ? Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
The Royal Society, London (its ink stamp: 'Soc. Reg. Lond / ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis.', f. 1).
Purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society of London together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
Notes Illuminated initial and rubrics on f. 156 not executed, and text crossed out; mistake by the scribe, as the text on f. 156 is the same as on f. 182.
