Charles Dickens’s original designs for a reading desk

This is an original sketch by Charles Dickens for a reading desk, which was created for his famous reading tours. In the note at the bottom of the page he specifies that it should be of 'a greyish green not too dark – The fringe to match'. It was not the first of Dickens's reading desks, but it was the most elegant and practical.
