This footage was recorded in Edinburgh in 1951 and shows girl performing the skipping rhyme 'Up and Down'. This is a very complicated skipping game and the skipper must perform actions such as touching their heel and their toe while skipping; walking on the spot while in the rope; swinging one leg while hopping on the other; and tapping their toe and foot on the ground while jumping.
