This guide describes how to use and navigate the British Library blogs archive.
The British Library blogs archive contains all blogs that were live on our previous blogging platform in September 2025.
The content of the blogs has been preserved by the UK Web Archive. However, because this is an archive, some external content and functionality that requires user input (such as search) will not work.
The information below outlines what can and cannot be viewed in the blog archive.
All blog posts that were live on British Library blogging platform in September 2025. This includes blogs published from September 2007 onwards from the 18 British Library blog topics:
If you have the previous link for the blog, you can simply use this and you will be redirected to the blog in the archive.
You can look for the blog in our full list of archived blogs.
You can search for the blog title or key words in a search engine, such as Google. We will also develop a separate British Library site search in the future to make searching easier.
Blog posts from October 2025 onwards, alongside a small number of older blogs, are available in our new blogs section.
This is an archive, rather than a 'normal' website. This means that any content posted directly to our blogging platform has been captured, but much of the functionality will not work.
Any content posted directly to our blogging platform is included in the archive. This includes text, PDF documents, images, sound, and video, and other files.
If content is hosted externally, for example on YouTube or another external website, you will need to copy the link and open it in a new window.
Sound files that were hosted on our blogging platform will play within the archive page. To listen to a recording:
The loading time depends on the size of the file. Longer recordings take more time to load than shorter ones.
Some recordings, especially interviews, also include a downloadable transcript. The length of the transcript can give you a general idea of how long the audio recording is.
All links to external web content will not work. You will need to copy these links and open them in a new browser window.
If the link does not load or does not load the expected content, then you can try to retrieve this content on another web archive. Examples of web archives include, Wayback Machine and Arquivo.pt.
Content will also be available in the UK Web Archive in the future.
This is an archive of a website, so search and any functionality that requires user input will not work. Find out more by reading 'What is not in the blogs archive?' and 'How can I find a blog in the archive?'.
We were using an external blogging platform (Typepad), which was shut down at short notice on 30 September 2025.
Our blogs, including posts from several years ago, were still widely used and referenced by many sources.
All blog posts were preserved by the UK Web Archive and made accessible via our archive.
All archived blogs are listed here. If you can't find a blog, or have a question or feedback, please contact us.
